he still loves me....

You know those times when you get that nasty cold where all you can do is breathe through your mouth and you feel like Darth Vader? Well i'm having one of those times and it's accompanied with coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose every 5 minutes. and guess what...my husband still loves me! But seriously, I am a WIMP when I am sick so anyone that can put up with me is a winner in my book! and Nyquil is my HERO.

Today was really boring/AWESOME. Trent and I woke up and he had to go to work for 4 hours. Those 4 hours usually fly by on a Saturday and I usually have a million things to do. Not this time. I decided to make a date with the couch and t.v. and try to get over my sickness. Well, that lasted for a while and then I looked at the clock hoping it was almost time for him to come home and it had be 40 minutes since he left. GREAT. So I decided to read a book for one of my classes called reviving ophelia, don't waste your time. It's 300 pages of why girls are so crazy as teenagers. I feel like every paragraph says the same thing. Girls are crazy, during puberty they become crazier, if they make it out alive they become grown-ups.

After I bored myself with that I decided to get ready for the day and Trent came home soon after that. It was such a gorgeous day that I had to get out even though I wasn't feeling too well. So we went on a walk! I LOVE walks! The sunshine was hitting my face and I was holding the hand of the man of my dreams! That's when my day became amazing if you were wondering. Then we went to a ward party and got our bowl on. He won. Shocker. My glory days of high school bowling domination are over. Now we are "doing homework" :) Well one of us is.

The last month has been CRAZY as far as school work goes. I've been teaching my unit that I created on Alaska to my first grade class and it has gone so well. I'll have to post pictures of the things they created during it. They are all so cute! Trent is taking Anat & Phys and a lot of other hard classes so that is ruling his life. He is doing really well though! Such a proud wifey!

Trent got an email that has lit up his life lately. I haven’t stopped hearing about it. Our apartment complex finally decided to move into the 21st century and install wifi in all of the apartments. Every time I turn around Trent is saying, “Guess what, we get wifi!” It will be nice to finally be able to do homework in the same room.

We went home for the three day weekend and we got to watch our nephews play basketball. They were ballers! Just like their uncle! J We got to have a sleepover with all of them too. That was CRAZY but a lot of fun. Trent is a master fort builder and Coy will kill me with the look on his face if I don’t make him “pink rabbit milk.” I gave him normal milk and he looked like I had just stolen all of his Halloween candy! I laughed super hard and learned my lesson.

someone is a little into the game...

Oh yea, Trent and I are the nursery leaders in our ward and we LOVE it. The kids are so dang cute and we get to work together which is a huge plus! Aren’t they adorable!?

2 of them playing dead. Devin is freakishly good at it. He will go limp when Trent tries to pick him up.

Playing with bubbles is the BEST idea ever in nursery. Except sometimes it looks like a wrestling match.

Coloring doesn't last long with boys.

They love to pull "teacher" up after ring around the rosey. (don't know how to spell that!)

SNACK TIME! -The only way we can bribe them to put the toys away.

Kids Kids Kids

So I'm doing my practicum for Elementary Ed which means I go teach a 1st grade class every Tuesday and Thursday all day long. No idea how i'll ever make it a full week because 2 days is kicking my trash right now! But there are a few moments that make it all worth it. I'll describe a few...

1. I taught P.E. on Tuesday and when I blew the whistle twice the kids had to stop and freeze. One kid kicked the ball after I blew the whistle twice right in front of me so I asked him to go sit by the wall until I had time to come and talk to him. He went willingly and I started a new game and then went to talk to him. He had tears in his eyes as he said, "My foot just slipped! I had no control over it and all the sudden it kicked the ball!" What i saw was clearly a deliberate kick and the fact that he was so convinced that he was innocent was hilarious to me.

2. This same little boy was playing quiet ball with the class one day (most of you probably know what it is but all the kids sit on their desks and throw a ball to each other without making a sound) So the ball is thrown to him and he misses...his hand shoots strait up into the air and I called on him and he said...

"Mrs. McKenzie, I couldn't catch the ball because my arms are so short! They are just so short!"

I assured him that his arms were just as long as everyone's. I've got to give this kid credit for coming up with such believable excuses.

3. On Thursday I did my hair curly with gel and thought nothing of it. I got to school and when the kids came into the classroom one little boy walked up to me with a confused look on his face and said, "What happened to your hair?!?" Then he proceeded to grab it and inspect it while I told him it just went curly and he said, "ya it did!" He had a look on his face like I had lost it. Priceless.

Pretty sure this is what he saw through his eyes...
This is what i thought i looked like...

Every day is a new adventure with these kids. You NEVER know what answer you are going to get when you ask a question. Come to think of it, that's how it is with my husband too. :)

CHRISTMAS....was over a month ago and i'm going to post about it now...

So Christmas was fun.... we started out by going to our lovely/crazy friends house for a few days to go see the lights at temple square. (Something Trenton has promised to do every single year until we die) It was loads of fun to be with our friends and hang out. We went to temple square and had dinner and then went home and played games until 2 in the morning like we were little kids. The next night we went to dinner with some of their friends and a UVU game where they have a green drumline. You know the blue man group? I think they are trying to start a green man group and it creeped me out a little....

The Creepy Green Men...

Temple Square..... It was freezing but always a good time! P.S. don't buy the hot chocolate on the corner....no flavor! Sooo disappointing.
 Our Cute friends :)

After our Utah excursion we spent a few days at Trenton's house and took his niece and nephews to see the lights at Rock Creek.

These kids are the ultimate Boise State Fans!

Then Kenzie and Trevor came home and it was basically Christmas! I convinced my dad that we needed to open our family gift on Christmas Eve because I couldn't wait any longer! Playing the kinect was a blast and hilarious! A few days after Christmas Trent and I went to Idaho Falls for his basketball tournament. It was fun to watch him play and we got to take his nephews with us the second day of his tournament. They got 3rd place overall and they competed against some really good teams!

Before we knew it our break was over and we were back home in Rexburg. It felt good to be home! School is pretty crazy for us this semester. Trent has online classes and night classes and he works part time. I go to school all day from 8-6 and work part time too! So we live for the weekends!

We hit our 6 month anniversary a few days ago and I saw this on facebook and couldn't help but share. It's way too cute!

This is totally us except for the cat...
